An area of focus for me is the unconventional canvas. I believe that art can (and probably should) be everywhere. #CodysWearableArt consists of hand-painted sneakers, jackets, and other apparel. I use this canvas knowing that it will be worn. It needs to command the attention of a viewer in passing. Unlike at a gallery show, they have not chosen to consider art at that moment. It is my job to make them.
My commission works are similar, but with strong consideration for the person ordering the piece. It has to be about them, not the people looking. They have to put it on, and feel one with the art.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease took the life of my client's childhood friend, Robert Vitanza. Robert's brother, Mike started a benefit concert to raise funds for research, and celebrate his brother's life.

Mike's Favorite Sneaker was an Adidas Shelltoe

The colors of the CJD foundation are purple and gold

These sneakers were to represent 10+ years of benefit concerts, so taking the icons and putting them under spotlights in a dark room (black sneaker) was the only thing that made sense to me. The splatter represents energy and life, and is a signature painting technique of mine which the client wanted me to incorporate.

Now that the concept was decided upon, it was time to present the possible options and pricing. For this I created a 7 page PDF with a breakdown of each package: visuals; what would be included; and the costs associated. (Here is one page).

After conceptualizing and agreeing on a package it was time to execute.
